Investor Visa May Be Path to U.S. Passport

Thousands of foreign investors have invested in U.S. states and has published the State Department is expected to distribute more than 6,000 "investor visa" for the current fiscal year "investor visa.” These Visa investors could soon turn into passports to wealthy investors.

Under the program "investor visa", investors from foreign countries can obtain visas that allow them and their families to live, work and study in the United States. In order to qualify for the visa, investors are required to invest at least $ 1 million in new business or newly established. Investors can also take advantage of the investor visa minimum investment of $ 500,000 to fund companies in rural locations or areas of high unemployment.

The concept is that the investment must be shown to have been responsible for the creation or preservation of at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers for two years. Once these conditions are met, foreign investors and their families prior to permanent resident status and within three years of U.S. citizenship can apply and obtain a U.S. passport.

This investor visa program is known as EB-5, not the new program. It actually has been in force for over twenty years. However, lately there have been increased participants rich - especially from China.

Other countries such as Australia and Ireland have done a similar program to try to lure wealthy investors to their country. Currently there are about twenty states offering similar incentives. For many, the investor visa is a way to get a U.S. passport.
